Dolomites pictures: My photo highlights

My best pictures from the Dolomites & South Tyrol

Bizarre mountain peaks & spectacular rock formations

Hardly any other mountain range has as many spectacular and striking peaks and rock formations as the Dolomites. The more than 250 million year old mountain range is part of the Alps and peppered with outstanding photo subjectswhich shine in a different light every time the weather changes. The Dolomites extend across the provinces in northern Italy South-Tirol, Trent and Belluno up to the Marmolada at 3,343 meters.

The three peaks

The world famous ones are waiting in Alta Pusteria Three Peaks or Tre Cime di Lavaredo, which with their north face represent one of the magical climbing walls on our planet. They are without a doubt one of the most famous images of the Dolomites. But the area also harbors a variety of locations from the dark times of the First world war.

in the Fanes Sennes Braies Nature Park there is the Insta hotspot Pragser Wildsee, as well as the other mountain lakes Toblacher See, Dürrensee and Lago di Misurina. In all of these places there are classic Dolomite pictures to take and the wonderful nature to enjoy.

«Monti Pallidi» - the pale mountain

In Alta Badia and Val Gardena (Val Gardena) is worth it Sella group or take a look at that Seceda. Next door is the Puez-Geisler Nature Park, the Villnöss valley with pretty churches and villages Die Seiser Alm is the largest high alp in Europe with impressive views of the Schlern. Nearby are the striking peaks of the rose Garden and the Vajolet Towers to marvel at. From Passo Sella there is that Plattkofel and Langkofel to see up close.

The famous winter ski resort is located across the language border Cortina d'Ampezzo. In the vicinity there are other striking mountain peaks and beautiful mountain lakes to be discovered, such as the Cinque Torri, the Lago Federa or the turquoise blue one Lake Sorapis.
