Western Switzerland – a tour through the Romandie
The French-speaking Western Switzerland - the French-speaking Switzerland – is one of the most diverse corners of the country and a true paradise for nature and landscape photography. Between the Lake Geneva, the gentle hills of the Gruyère region and the rugged peaks of the Vaudois and Freiburg Alps One worthwhile photo opportunity follows another. I am repeatedly drawn to this region, where Mediterranean flair, vineyards, alpine pastures and rugged mountain scenery converge in a very small area.
Lake Geneva region & Lavaux
Around the Lake Geneva (Lake Geneva) is where western Switzerland unfolds its full charm. The vineyards of the Lavaux – since 2007 UNESCO world heritage – slope gently down to the lake and glow particularly brightly in autumn and in the evening light. From the Vaud Riviera near Montreux with the picturesque Chillon Castle across the vineyards to the metropolis Geneva with their famous Jet d'eau Switzerland's largest lake offers countless perspectives – from atmospheric sunrises over the water to the snow-covered Savoy Alps on the opposite shore.
Freiburg & the Gruyère region
The Gruyère region (La Gruyère) around the medieval town Gruyères It's one of my favorite spots in western Switzerland. It sits perched above gentle pre-Alpine hills. Moléson, while the distinctive rocky chain of the Gastlosen is emerging. The turquoise blue Black Lake (Lac Noir) and the wide Lake Gruyère round off the picture – a landscape that exudes its own unique charm in every season and in all kinds of weather.
Vaud & Fribourg Alps
Those seeking heights will find them in the Vaud Alps Found: From the glacier of Diablerets over the viewpoint mountains Rochers de Naye and Les Pléiades up to Dent de Jaman Sweeping panoramas open up over Lake Geneva and the Alpine foothills. Seas of fog in autumn, blooming alpine meadows in early summer, and clear views stretching as far as the Alps. Mont Blanc This mountain landscape makes it a rewarding area for landscape photography.
