Banff,

Lake Louise and the
Icefields Parkway have become popular tourist attractions in the cowboy province
Alberta. Yet not far from there, you can still find tranquil wilderness with bears, moose, and—with a bit of luck—even a wolf. Crystal-clear lakes, rugged mountain peaks, and mighty glaciers offer countless opportunities for adventure and photography. Sights such as the

Moraine Lake or the spectacular

Mystical Great Bear Rainforest & Vancouver
As the westernmost province of the country, it follows
British Columbia. On the huge
Vancouver Island and along the coast grows the largest
temperate rainforest of our planet. At the southern tip of the island, one feels transported back to the Victorian era.

The «dancing grizzly bears» of the Yukon
The legendary
Dempster Highway is considered one of the great
Wilderness paradises of North America. Along this remote gravel track through the north of the
Yukon I had the rare good fortune to witness an extraordinary scene: so-called
„"dancing grizzly bears"“.They repeatedly address
Grizzly bears (
Ursus arctosThey stand upright on their hind legs and rub themselves against trees or bushes. To the observer, this behavior almost looks like a dance. In reality, the animals are marking their territory and leaving scent markings on so-called "rub trees." During my extensive
Panamericana trip I was able to capture this exact moment in a photograph. I tell the story of this unique encounter in the blog post.
Priceless – an encounter with Pole Dancing Grizzly Bears. You can find even more photos of these impressive animals in my gallery.
