Argentina pictures: My photo highlights

Argentina - land of the gauchos

The seemingly endless country at the southern end of South America holds a sheer incredible variety. From the dust-dry desert near Ischigualasto, to tropical rainforest near the Iguazu Falls, fertile wine-growing areas around Mendoza, the endless expanses of the pampas, high alpine landscapes with glaciated 6,000 m high Andean peaks, salt lakes to the metropolis of Buenos Aires.

Iguazú - a unique natural spectacle

In the north-easternmost province Misiones a tropical climate prevails, which allowed lush green rainforests to flourish. Unfortunately, only fragments of it have survived today, such as the unique, deafening ones Iguazú Waterfalls. One of the most fascinating natural spectacles that I have ever been able to admire.

Córdoba and Mendoza - Argentine Wild West

From Cordoba, the zlargest city in the country, we explore the national park Quebrada del Condorito, where, with a little luck, condors can be photographed. From there it goes on to the province of San Juan. The desert landscapes of the Valle de la Luna in Ischigualasto Provinicial Park and the adjacent Talampaya National Park are strongly reminiscent of the American Southwest with its spectacular red sandstone formations and accordingly offer great photo motifs. Here we also drive part of the legendary Routa 40 until we are further south in the wine paradise Mendoza arrive.

Patagonia - huge glaciers and striking mountains

From Calafate you should take a day trip to Glaciar Perito Moreno definitely not to be missed. To be able to watch the calving of the huge glacier tongue from close up is undoubtedly one of the photo highlights of Argentina. Hidden in the Andes and in the Los Glaciares National Park is the trekking mecca El Chalten. Ideal starting point for tours around the striking Fitz Roy, the tips Cerro Torre or the turquoise mountain lake Laguna de los Tres.

Peninsula Valdez - a natural paradise

To interrupt the long journey through the incredibly flat and deserted pampas, the natural paradise is ideal Península Valdés at. Famous for its stranding orcas, fur seals, magellanic penguins, elephant seals, guanacos, maras and armadillos. At the Punta Tombo gives To visit the world's largest breeding site for Magellanic penguins, where numerous beautiful Argentina pictures can be taken.

Buenos Aires - city of winds and tango

Capital and 13 million metropolis Buenos Aires at the mouth of the Rio de la Plata is the political, cultural and industrial heart of the gigantic country. Once a refuge for wealthy European emigrants, the city is today marked by numerous crises, which gives it a very own, melancholy mood. Fittingly, it is the birthplace of the Tangos

Life pulsates in the diverse and multifaceted city districts and offers something for every visitor. San Telmo, the stronghold of tango, La Boca with the brightly painted houses, the elegant quarter Recoleta with street cafes and the mausoleum of Evita Peron, the trendy Palermo with galleries and large green areas.

Salta and Jujuy - remote northwest

The pretty colonial city Salta offers itself as a starting point for the surrounding region. But the city also offers numerous sights such as the Convento de San Bernardo, the colorful Iglesia San Francisco or the local markets. The three main attractions recently Inca child mummies from the volcano Llullaillaco, Which in the excellent MAAM Museum Arqueología de Alta Montaña.

Nowhere in Argentina is the influence of the indigenous people as noticeable as in the provinces of the northwest. With a rental car we explore the highlights of the region, such as the Indian village Purmamarca with the striking Cerro de los Siete Colores, the semi-desert Quebrada de Humahuaca or the salt lake Salinas Grandes. All places for wonderful Argentina pictures.
