The roe deer (Capreolus capreolus), also known as roe deer in hunting terminology, lives throughout Switzerland and belongs to the deer family. Bucks, does, and fawns are often seen in meadows, fields, and along forest edges at dusk. Here you'll find my most beautiful photos. Deer pictures as a fine art print or wall art.
The deer grazes in the soft morning light amidst meadows, grain fields, and hedgerows. Emmentals. As a forest edge dweller, it loves the mix of cover and open areas where it can find herbs, buds, and young shoots. Those out early in the morning often spot these shy animals before they disappear into the nearby undergrowth.
In the Reuss delta on Lake Uri, deer graze on flowering riverside meadows during the summer. The nature reserve, with its riparian forests, reed beds, and meadows, provides the wildlife with cover and ample food. Against the backdrop of the Uri mountains, particularly atmospheric scenes unfold.
in the Zealand Deer often gather in groups in open fields; in hunting terminology, this is called a "leap." Especially in winter, several animals come together to forage for food. In the wide, flat landscape, they can be spotted from afar.
The fawns are born in May and June and spend their first few weeks camouflaged in the tall grass, as their spotted coat protects them from predators. The doe stays nearby and only comes to nurse them. These pictures of fawns are taken from a safe distance, because fawns should never be touched.
Roe bucks and does are particularly visible in fog, hoarfrost, and snow. In winter, they have a dense, grey-brown coat, and the light patch on their rump, the so-called mirror, is especially prominent. The buck sheds his antlers in late autumn and grows new ones in winter.
Felix Salten's fictional character Bambi is a roe deer, and in Germany, the female roe deer is called a "Recke" (doe). The rutting season, also known as the "Blattzeit" (leafing season), takes place in July and August. Thanks to an extended gestation period, known as embryonic diapause, the fawns are still not born until early summer.
All designs are available as high-quality wall art. Whether as a large statement piece or a tranquil motif in the hallway: a deer print brings a piece of Swiss nature into your home. Take a look in the Webshop or write to me if you are looking for a specific format.
A notice: All photos are taken with respect for wildlife. Please always keep a safe distance, especially during the birthing season in early summer.
