Bear pictures from Alaska, Canada and the Yukon – grizzly bears and black bears

Grizzly bears fishing for salmon, coastal brown bears in Alaska and black bears in North America

This gallery showcases some of my most unforgettable encounters with Bears, which I experienced on my travels through North America. The often somewhat clumsy-looking «Master Petz»"It has always fascinated us humans as a symbol of strength, wilderness, and primal nature." Alaskan coastal brown bears, a form of Brown bears (Ursus arctos). Due to the abundant food supply – especially the annual Salmon fishing trips These animals can reach enormous sizes. Encounters with Bears fishing for salmon These are among the most impressive experiences of the North American wilderness. Equally fascinating are... Grizzly bears (Ursus arctos horribilis) in the colorful autumn of the North American tundra. During this time of year, the animals roam across vast landscapes to build up ample fat reserves before winter.

Grizzly bears in the Rocky Mountains and the Yukon

In the interior of the North American continent live the somewhat smaller, but no less impressive Grizzly bears. With a bit of luck, these animals can be spotted along the famous Icefields Parkway in the Banff National Park, in the Canadian Rocky mountains, in the wild Yukon or in the spectacular Glacier National Park observe. Some of my most impressive Bear Pictures arose from the encounter of two playing and fighting Grizzly bear cubs near the Lake Clark National Parks in Alaska – a rare and particularly emotional nature experience.

Grizzly bears doing the «pole dance» in the Yukon

My most famous picture was probably taken in the remote north of the Yukon Territory. Two grizzly bears – presumably a mother with her nearly grown cub – were scratching their backs against a pole at the side of the road. The scene unfolded amidst the intense Autumn colors of the Canadian tundra away. Click here to go to the diary entry. These images of the "dancing" bears were broadcast worldwide. They were reported by, among others, British newspapers such as... The Sun, Daily Mail, The Mirror, The Times and The Telegraph published. Also in the magazine National Geographic Kids, at The dodo The story also appeared in other international media.

Black bears in Alaska and Canada

Other photos in this gallery show the American black bears (Ursus americanus), which is widespread in large parts of North America. These animals are frequently observed in the extensive forests of Canada and Alaska. Some pictures were taken in Yellowstone National Park, in the Denali National Park, in the Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve, in the Tongass National Forest, along the Cassiar Highway as well as in the wilderness of the Glacier National Parks. These regions are among the best places in the world to photograph bears in the wild.
