Champions League Final under the Palomino palms

  • Bus ride along the coast to Palomino
  • Bathing and relaxing on the cozy beach
  • Follow the Champions League final in a beach bar

Because today's national park entry should actually no longer be valid and the Tayrona National Park should be overcrowded on weekends as well, today it goes to one Beach outside the park. And all of that without a strenuous hike in this heat.

At the tip of our hostel owner, we take the minibus along the turquoise coast for almost an hour to get to Palomino. Always funny, what is transported on these local buses. An old lady seems to have bought a new wheelbarrow, which was temporarily tied to the roof.

Arrived in the manageable Palomino, we buy some fruit and march to the beach. There is surprisingly little going on on the clean sandy beach. Just behind it are some simple, cozy hostels and bars. You could also spend the night in a hammock.

We enjoy the hot lunchtime hours in Shadow of the coconut trees and reading. In between there is always a minimally refreshing swim in the sea, which is relatively wild by Caribbean standards. Pelicans fly by and a few other tourists do the same. Pure tropical idyll.

Suddenly I hear GOAL from one of the nearby beach bars and I just realize that Champions League Final between Juve and Barca running. So I watch the rest of the second half and have a drink ice cold beer. I call that wonderful! If we weren't running out of time, we would certainly stay here for a few more days and soak up the cozy atmosphere.

Then I throw myself into the wild waves again, where now some local teenagers are in the Body surfing try and do the same to them. With the waves breaking just above my head, this is of course excellent and you can let yourself be carried x meters towards the coast.

Then it's time to make our way back. Hardly in the town a minibus arrives that takes us back to El Zaino to the Hostal Monte Verde.

After the extremely hearty Colombian specialty Bandeja Paisa consisting of rice, beans, fried bacon rind, minced meat and a sausage, we watch a movie and enjoy the still muggy evening.
