At 11 o'clock it is time to check out and pack things. So today we are leaving the crazy gambling metropolis. It's a shame, because now the weekend is just around the corner. There is a lot more going on in the city. The luggage has increased a bit in the last few days, so it looks messy in the car. After shopping in a Walmart superstore, we go to the outlet center again to exchange my stained shirt. We eat a salad there and I buy another daypack and a new sun hat. We make our way through the traffic chaos of Highway i15 and finally leave Vegas behind us.
Soon we have left the last signs of human settlement behind us and are driving through the dry land of southern Nevada. In addition to bushes, only a few small Joshua trees grow here. Except for a few hills, the route to Beatty is uneventful. We arrive there shortly before 6 a.m., which now means almost sunset. In the last rays of sunshine of the day we take a look at the ruins of the Ghosttown Rhyolite, which are not worth seeing. The only thing really worth seeing is a rotting train wagon. Then we decide to go back to Beatty and camp there. The comfortable and inexpensive RV campground offers showers and laundry, which we use. Neither of us are really hungry, so there is only one sandwich for once.
