We drive about two hours until we get to the first <b>snow <\/b>arrive. At the <b>Visitors Center <\/b>let&#039;s find out what can still be done at this time of the year. A few days ago the rim road around the crater had to be closed because of the snow. So the only thing left is the drive up to the Crater Village. We watch the interesting documentation about the park and chat with the ranger.<\/p>\n<p>Then we drive the last few miles up to the <b>Crater Villag<\/b>e. Winter conditions already prevail here at over 2100 m and the temperatures are accordingly. The region is considered to be one of the snowiest on earth. From here we enjoy the impressive view down to the crater lake for the first time. The mountain lost up to 1000 m in height and the eruption left a huge hole. Over time, this hole has now filled with melt water. Our gaze wanders over to the <b>Wizard Island<\/b>whose shape already reveals its volcanic origin. In the meantime more and more clouds are gathering and slowly blocking the view down. Back at the souvenir shop there is a warm drink for us before we start the long journey towards the coast.
