After all, you can sleep a little better in the comfortable bed of the motel. Then there is <b>Pancakes <\/b>in dinner from the previous evening. I also order one <b>Cinnamon bun<\/b>, but didn&#039;t count the North American portions. After about an hour and the last few kilometers on a rather rough gravel road, we reach the <b>Bodie State Historic Park<\/b>. The <b>Ghosttown <\/b>is one of the best preserved examples from the time of the gold rush. Unlike in many other places, everything here has been protected as a Historic Park and not commercialized. The ruins and rotting houses give Bodie its own charm. We have received a quote from a little girl who was to move to Bodie with her parents and who wrote in her diary: \u201cGoodbye God, I&#039;m going to Bodie!\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img data-opt-id=1513158043  fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-5160\" src=\"https:\/\/mlnnzcgf0rm9.i.optimole.com\/w:auto\/h:auto\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/marcelgross.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/2014_10_29_3.jpg\" alt=\"2014_10_29_3\" width=\"1170\" height=\"658\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mlnnzcgf0rm9.i.optimole.com\/w:1170\/h:658\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/www.marcelgross.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/2014_10_29_3.jpg 1170w, https:\/\/mlnnzcgf0rm9.i.optimole.com\/w:600\/h:337\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/www.marcelgross.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/2014_10_29_3.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Between the houses, simple huts, outhouses, the school, a church, the bank, a shop and much more lies all sorts of junk, from old cars and their rusted remains, to mine cars, tools and machines, cans and Glass. After the discovery of a very profitable gold vein, the city briefly housed around 10,000 residents. After a drop in the price of gold had already led to a sharp reduction in the population, sealed a <b>Great fire in 1932 <\/b>the fate of the city.<\/p>\n<p>A small <b>museum <\/b>shows other pieces worth seeing. For example, the pretty hearse, bottles, books, saloon mirrors and everyday objects are exhibited here. Around 3 p.m. we start our onward journey. There is still a long way to go, after all, we have to return our car to Canada in 11 days.<\/p>\n<p>We will make another stop on <b>Lake Tahoe <\/b>a. At the <b>Taylor Creek Recreation Area <\/b>we walk along the short Rainbow Trail in the hope of spotting black bears fishing for salmon. The stream is full of dead and almost dead red Kokanee salmon, which were introduced here by humans. No bears can be seen, there are probably too many onlookers here. We use the picnic area at the parking lot to warm our leftovers.<\/p>\n<p><img data-opt-id=734153597  fetchpriority=\"high\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-5161\" src=\"https:\/\/mlnnzcgf0rm9.i.optimole.com\/w:auto\/h:auto\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/marcelgross.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/2014_10_29_4.jpg\" alt=\"2014_10_29_4\" width=\"1170\" height=\"658\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mlnnzcgf0rm9.i.optimole.com\/w:1170\/h:658\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/www.marcelgross.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/2014_10_29_4.jpg 1170w, https:\/\/mlnnzcgf0rm9.i.optimole.com\/w:600\/h:337\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/www.marcelgross.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/2014_10_29_4.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, it is now getting darker and earlier and so we don&#039;t notice the beautiful route along Lake Tahoe and the northern Sierra Nevada. On the <b>Highway 89<\/b> we continue until we finally reach the remote area around 10 o&#039;clock in the evening <b>Greenville\u00a0<\/b>to reach.
