To do this, we fry wonderful pancakes with bananas and dried cranberries. After this typical American and hearty breakfast, we drive north to the village of Golden. From there we turn into the Yoho National Park. The first highlight on the route are the less high than the wider and mighty Wapta Falls, to which we take a hike. In the Visitors Center at Field we find out about the hiking and camping opportunities in the park. After we have secured a campsite, we visit the Natural Bridge of the Kicking Horse River. Here the river squeezes through a narrow cleft in the rock. A magnificent spectacle from mother nature. After lunch we start a longer hike around Emerald Lake. At the back of the lake we climb part of the Yoho Pass to take a look down on one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in the Canadian Rockies. Unfortunately, the cloud cover is by no means clearing and so the exertion is only partially worth the effort. But the way back is along the other side of the lake, back to the parking lot, all the more beautiful. You almost feel like you are in the coastal rainforests of Vancouver. Ferns and mosses flourish everywhere. Now we drive back to our nice parking space directly on a small stream in the Kicking Horse Campground. It starts raining while dinner is being prepared. So we are forced to stretch the tarpaulin with cords between the trees and thus provide a comfortably dry emergency shelter for eating. Today we have a delicious chili con carne from our beloved cast iron pot.

Drive to Golden and from there to Yoho National Park

Marvel at the Natural Bridge of the Kicking Horse River

Hike on the colorful Emerald Lake

Chili Con Carne in the rain

We're taking it easy today, as the sky is unfortunately overcast again.
